The ADHD Society of the Philippines invites interested parties to a seminar/workshop on “Understanding and Managing Learning Disabilities of Children with ADHD”. This seminar on ADHD will be held on the 20th of January 2012 (Friday), 1pm to 5pm , at the Walter Hogan Hall,  SDC Complex, Ateneo Campus, Quezon CityGoal of the seminar:

The seminar/workshop “Understanding and Managing Learning Disabilities of Children with AD/HD” is for parents and teachers in general education classrooms, who would like to equip themselves with information to help the child or student who has trouble learning and using certain skills (e.g., reading, writing, listening, speaking, reasoning and doing math) despite having average or above-average intelligence.

 

To be addressed during the seminar is an overview of ADHD condition, such as:

a. specific learning disabilities (SLD);

b. the characteristics of students with SLD;

c. effective teaching strategies to address this problem;

d. promoting positive social interactions in an Inclusive setting

Resource Speaker:

The resource speaker for the seminar/workshop “Understanding and Managing Learning Disabilities of Children with AD/HD” is Dr. Rosario Margarita (Rose) A. Aligada, (Ph.D. College of Education, Miriam College).

Dr. Rose Aligada is a co-founder of the AD/HD Society of the Philippines, and is a member of its Board of Advisers.  She is the Chairperson of the Special Education Department of the College of Education of Miriam College.  She is also a member of the Board of Directors and family therapist of Recovery Circle, a Drug and Alcohol rehabilitation facility.  Dr. Aligada is a Professional Teacher, a registered Nutritionist-Dietitian, a Family Mininstries’ worker, and a Life and Success Coach.

Dr. Rose Aligada graduated with a Ph.D. in Education major in Reading, from the University of the Philippines, where she also took her Master’s degree in Special Education, and her Bachelor of Science degree in Community Nutrition. Dr. Aligada has given numerous talks on education as well as parenting. She is a staunch advocate for children, and the disabled.

    Good day I’m so sad with the current set up of classrooms in the philippines they does not suited for the children with adhd.In all days of schooling my child usually just sit whole day..and that is my problem she always call the attention of her teachers because she always stand up
