Coach Boy – Part-time Potpot Driver; Full-time Palarong Pambansa Gymnastics Coach
Who is Coach Boy Bandalan to Julie Ann Borneo ? To her she is the trainer who called interested young athletes to train for Gymnastics at Baybay, Leyte.
Who is Coach Boy Bandalan to me? He is A Palarong Pambansa Gymnastics Coach.
But Coach Boy is more than that to different people.
This is not going to be a post on why does he have to be a Pot-pot driver when he is already a Gymnastics coach. This is a post on how a former Palarong Pambansa athlete himself inspired young kids from Baybay, Leyte to come together to Baybay High and learn Gymnastics so that one day they will compete at Palarong Pambansa together with the country’s finest athletes across the nation.

Part 3 of Palarong Pambansa 2012 Interview: Julie Ann Borneo Inspiring Gymnast from Leyte
It took some time to write this post because this is the last part of Special Education Philippines‘ interview with this wonderful, young girl. I am not sure if our paths will ever cross again. I would love to see her perform or accept a medal for the hard work she and the rest of her team has done to reach the Palarong Pambansa. Who knows? Maybe she’ll become one of legendary gymnasts of Leyte? Maybe I might see her in the international arena representing the Philippines? But there’s also the other side of the coin. Maybe I won’t see her anymore.
Part 2: Interview of Leyte Gymnast Julie Ann Borneo for Palarong Pambansa 2012
I first heard of the Power of Now from one of Oprah’s shows. After that I started searching for Eckhart Tolle’s book. I chanced upon a sale at Powerbooks one day and got mysefl an audiobook copy. What I learned from this book is to focus on my life as it is happening Now.
Although our past will influence and shape us and the promise of the future will guide us but the NOW as it is happening is what keeps us focused. And so my next question for our inspiring young athlete is her experience NOW at it is happening at the Palarong Pambansa. When I first saw Julie Ann she was sitting together with her teammates on the left side of the bleachers of the People’s stadium. At first I thought she called the place “vaulting” but apparently vaulting as Wikipedia defines it: “The vault is an artistic gymnastics apparatus, as well as the skill performed using that apparatus. Vaulting is also the action of performing a vault. Both male and female gymnasts perform the vault. The English abbreviation for the event in gymnastics scoring is VT.”
Palarong Pambansa 2012: Inspiring Story from Leyte Gymnast Julie Anne Borneo
This is my first time to be at the Palarong Pambansa and on the first night Special Education Philippines arrived at Dagupan I heard of a story that inspired me. Since one of my purpose to go to the Palaro2012 is to look for inspiring stories from our own Palarong Pambansa players, I kept on thinking if I will ever have a chance to meet these wonderful persons and hear from their own lips the stories that brought them to the Palarong Pambansa 2012.
The inspiring story I’ve heard is how a young gymnast earned her way to be her city’s representative to be part of the country’s national athletes. These gymnasts practice every day with their coach who trains them every afternoon after he comes from his day job. However, this coach do not have the usual work most coaches do. Do you want to know more about them?
Who is watching Palarong Pambansa 2012? Are you Mon Tulfo, Raymart Santiago and Claudine Barretto?
As a blogger, I’ve never been that focused on traffic. Well that statement alone can be attacked in 1001 ways but I always thought that if you’re not my target niche, then its alright if you don’t read my posts because what I write about is for a selected few and I still want to write for my niche because no one else that I know of will actively do so. Stubborn? Not really, because I’m part of the few selected and I hope someone will write for me the same way I am writing to my target niche. One of my mentors said that great ideas are born from problems. You find a problem and offer a solution. Blogging was my solution.
